The Reno Air Racing Association closed its 60-year history of events at a Reno-Stead Airport with an air show the first weekend of October. Last year, RARA announced that the National Championship Air Races could no longer be held in Reno. So what to do? Bring in the big jets and give props to performers of the past. The Blue Angels headlined the event. Joining them in their only joint appearance in North America were the Canadian Forces Snowbirds. Fan favorites such as “Plum Crazy” Vicky Benzing's P-51 Mustang and Steve Hinton’s F8F Bearcat were among performers who had competed in previous racing events. That races move to Roswell, New Mexico, in September 2025.
